How do I find my lost password ?
|
Go to the password finder page password finder page,
fill in your Newstext username and the email address you entered
when subscribing, and we will email your password to you. If you have
lost your username too, you can go to the bottom of the same page and
fill in your email address so that Newstext can send you your username
AND password. If you've forgotten everything, or didn't enter your email
address when subscribing, contact us at newstext@newsltd.com.au
giving as many relevant details as you can so we can find your account.

Newstext has eaten up my credit but I haven't got the article - what now?
|
You can download the article again within 15 minutes
of the first time you downloaded it and Newstext will recognise this and
will not charge you for the second download. If 15 minutes have passed
since you downloaded the article, email us at newstext@newsltd.com.au
with details such as your Newstext username and how many credits you've
lost, and we will adjust the credits on your account and email you accordingly.

Newstext won't accept my perfectly valid credit card - why?
|
|
Newstext only accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners. If
you are sure your card is valid, and there are funds in your account, try
again later, as the bank may be experiencing an outage for maintenance, or
transaction validation is being hampered by congestion on the Internet. If
you are still having trouble, and it's urgent you access Newstext,
telephone us on 02 9288 3091 and we will take your credit card details
over the phone and log you into Newstext on the spot. Alternatively, you
can email us with details of your problem, a contact phone number and a
convenient time to ring you, so we can call you back. |

What do I do if I don't have a credit card or do not wish to use the
online payment facility?
|
Subscribers can pay by cheque or money order. Simply print out the
completed subscription form and send, along with a cheque/MO (made payable
to 'Newstext') to the value of the credits you wish to purchase plus a $5
admin fee, to:

Your order will be processed in a couple of working days and you will be

What is not included in the archive?
|
Newstext is an editorial text-only archive. Some text - not much, but some
- has been filtered out because of legal or copyright reasons. Newstext
does not contain photographs, graphics, advertisements, classified ads,
public notices, cartoons, tables and the like. Newstext contains nearly 30
million articles from 150 News Corporation papers in Australasia, the UK
and USA. Click here for
full details of the newspapers in Newstext and when their archives start.
The oldest archive is that of the Courier-Mail in Queensland, which goes
back to 1984.

Is it possible to obtain information not included in the archive?

How do I obtain access to an archived article?
|
Searching the archive is free. To retrieve an article, you will have to subscribe to Newstext. Click here to
subscribe

How do I pay for the articles and how much does it cost?
|
You need to subscribe and pay in advance to download articles. The minimum
purchase is 10 credits for $17.50 (Australian dollars and includes GST).
Credits last for 12 months from date of purchase. There are discounts
available for schools.

What's a download?
|
A download is defined as bringing an article to your
screen so you can read it or print it. You initiate a download by
clicking on the headline of a search result you want or by selecting
articles and clicking the 'Download Selected' box. A small window will
pop up warning you that by proceeding, your account will lose credits.
Click OK on this window to finish the download.

How do I know how much credit I have in my account?
|
Once logged in, subscribers can monitor their account
by clicking on the 'my account' button on the left-hand navigation bar.
And there's a credit counter on the page that clicks down every time you
download an article. (Note: sometimes you have to click the Refresh button
on your browser to update this counter).

How long do my credits last for? |
All credits are valid for 1 year (365 days) from the date of purchase .
Please note that any unused credits will expire after that time. Schools
credits are valid for the calendar year , and expire on 31 December of the
year of purchase.

Do you offer pricing discounts for educational institutions?
|

for information on pricing for educational purposes. For instance, Newstext
offers a special Schools Package for 2005 that provides 1,500 download
credits for $650.00 inc GST

I can't find an article I am looking for.
|
Try to make your search as specific as possible. Our search tips
are an excellent source of information on getting the best results for your search
Tip: Check the date range. The default is set at 30 days, so if the article
dates back earlier than that, you won't find it unless you specify a wider
range.

How do I search for a story by a particular journalist?
|
The easiest way is to include the reporter's name in the search terms.
You can also type the surname in the byline field.
|
